The first USS Colorado Scholarship has been awarded to Renee Prieto of Mystic, CT. Her sponsor is former crew member STS1 Messina. Renee will commence studies in Nursing in the fall.

The scholarship was established by the USS Colorado Commissioning Committee with money raised in conjunction with fundraising for Commissioning Week activities. It is administered by the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation (http://dolphinscholarship.org/), a non-profit organization that raises funds to ease the financial burden of education for eligible member or the Submarine Force and their dependents.
