Uss Colorado Submarine Association

USS Colorado (SSN 788)

USS Colorado is the 15th Virginia class submarine. Construction started in March 2012 at Electric Boat Shipyard in Groton, Connecticut and she was delivered to the Navy on September 21, 2017. She was Commissioned at Naval Submarine Base in Groton on March 17, 2018. Her Ship's Sponsor is Ms. Annie Mabus. She is the fourth ship to bear the name Colorado.


OUR MISSION

The Association is organized to maintain a proud and active relationship between the citizens of Colorado and the crew and families of USS Colorado (SSN 788), specifically to:

  • Support the morale, well-being and recreation of the crew and their families.
  • Encourage, advocate, and generate statewide support for the crew of USS Colorado throughout the life of the submarine and to educate the citizens of Colorado about their namesake submarine.
  • Educate the crew about the beauty of Colorado and the heritage of previous vessels commissioned as USS Colorado.
  • Raise funds and finance appropriate events and activities associated with these objectives.

    The crew ended the evening with a public reception hosted at the beautiful Balistreri Vineyards in which a submarine life presentation and later tour of the barrel room took place.

    The Association and Sailors are grateful for the continued support of the Association members, owners of Balistreri Vineyards, and the wonderful community.

    The crew received a private tour of the History Colorado Center.

    Afterwards, they gave an informative presentation to the public about the submarine life.

    The crew started their morning at the Capitol meeting Lieutenant Governor Diane Primavera.

    Lieutenant Governor was presented with a token of appreciation by the USS Colorado.

    USS Colorado presented the Association a small token of appreciation for the continued support of the Sailors and families of the USS Colorado.

    Today kicks off the start of a long awaited  namesake visit.

    During the crew members visit to Colorado from June 5th to the 9th, the Association will host a public reception at Balistreri Vineyards on June 6th.

    Wishing all submariners and their families a Happy National Submarine Day!

    April 11 is National Submarine Day, commemorating the day in 1900 that the U.S. Navy purchased the U.S.S. Holland, their first practical submarine.
